Five days, three meals a day, up to 33 people
To make this easy we have come up with a rough menu for the week — breakfast, lunch, dinner. The goal is to make signing up easy, not to make it so you can't make what you want, so feel free to change things up. If you take a meal, buy the ingredients for it — that's what keeps the cost spread out rather than landing on one person.
None of this is an obligation. We'll eat together as willing and able, and there'll be supplies for separate meals too — bring what you need to eat, and expect a fair bit of sharing. Empty slots are fine. Whatever isn't claimed, people will sort out between them on the day.
We will send out emails closer to the time letting you know how many people you should be assuming you're feeding.
We need cooks, assistants and dishwashers, so put your name down for whatever suits. There are as many as 30 of us and lots of food to be made and consumed, and lots of dishes. We have one big kitchen and a big dining hall. Let's have fun with this — and if cooking for a crowd isn't your thing, that's genuinely fine.
Chris will make sure oils and spices show up, so if you've modified a meal, let him know and he'll make sure your spices come in too.
In order to try to be inclusive to various diets we are starting with a vegan base, and then cooking various proteins on the side. If you override the menu, please try to keep this in mind.
Hope, BC is the nearest real grocery store and it's about an hour away — Save‑On‑Foods and Buy‑Low — so keep that in mind if you're trying to buy food day of, it's gonna take about two hours round trip.
There is a store at the resort but it looks pretty thin, so think "whoops, butter" not "I need watercress".
As a note for those coming in from the USA, you will likely not be able to bring in fresh foods — so yes to rice, no to meat, dairy and eggs. You'll want to get those on your way in.
